About me
My name is Erika Polyi and I am double majoring in International Business and Management with a minor in French and a concentration in Entrepreneurship. I will graduate in December 2024 with leadership distinction in the Global Learning track. I chose to come to the University of South Carolina because of their exceptional International Business program and all the opportunities that come with it. I have loved it so much I am currently pursuing an accelerated Masters of International Business program here as well and will be graduating with that in May 2025! I look forward to sharing the information I have learned in the classroom and beyond the classroom, specifically my international experience, through this portfolio.
My two experiences studying abroad in France and Belgium the what is at the core of my learnings and what I will present through this project. While my learning began in the classroom, my knowledge grew exponentially as I traveled outside the country and saw it for myself. My professors taught me the importance of being open to new cultures and ideas and staying curious and my experience abroad is where I was able to put that into effect fully. While traveling and going to school in these areas I was able to attend entrepreneurship events, explore other countries, and conduct interviews with various types of people and jobs. Each one of these gave me insights that I will forever be grateful for and that will be useful post-graduation when I am exploring my career path and hopefully, working abroad.
Lastly, throughout my time at Carolina, I have had many conversations with international students, on top of also being an international student at one time, which led me to want to make an impact on the future of these students. After graduation, I will be continuing to work with a program that I am very passionate about called the Fulbright Foreign Student Program. In this portfolio, I will be discussing how I want to further impact their mission to provide foreign citizens the opportunity to come to the United States for graduate studies at U.S. universities. My goals include many these opportunities more widely known and more widely acceptable to everyone all around the world.
